Hoe Grange Holidays - Accessible self-catering accommodation in the Peak District

Updated: Apr 11

Hoe Grange Holidays

We all know how restorative the power of a holiday can be. A change of scenery, even if just for a few days, can allow you the chance to leave any stresses behind and simply relax and enjoy discovering somewhere new.

Many of the people you work with who have mobility issues, may struggle to find suitable accommodation for a holiday. Searching for truly accessible accommodation is no easy feat, and we all know that accessibility is no one size fits all situation. We have all heard the awful stories of disabled guests arriving at a hotel or property that states “wheelchair-friendly”, only to discover there is no ramp into the property or the door widths are not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.

As OTs, it is good to have knowledge of holiday accommodation that specifically caters for disabled people, to help advise them with any recommendations for a break away. It can be difficult to seek out the right accommodation that will suit your client and we would always recommend calling the accommodation to check access requirements prior to booking, but there are some great properties out there that offer accessible, thoughtful, and stunning accommodation. Hoe Grange Holidays is one of them.

Accessible Accommodation

Based in the stunning Derbyshire Peak District, Hoe Grange has to be one of the top choices when it comes to accessible accommodation. These beautifully tailored log cabins have been designed specifically for disabled people, and their understanding of accessibility has won them numerous access awards and accolades over the years, including an Autism Friendly Award.

The cabins are set on a working family farm, which offers little ones the chance to meet the farm animals, collect eggs from the chickens and learn about country life. The surroundings are breath-taking and there is lots to do across the countryside, from walking and cycling routes, to parks, villages and tourist attractions.

The cabins themselves offer level access throughout, and are an incredibly cosy and relaxing retreat for a break for couples or families. The living area has a log effect fire, the open-plan kitchen is well-equipped and the large double doors open out onto a superb decking area that also boasts a hot tub (available on request).

The cabins are also eco-friendly as they are heated using renewable technologies, so guests will leave a lighter carbon footprint when they stay there, they are dog-friendly too.

Bedroom space is generous and the electric profiling beds are inviting and comfortable. The accessible wet rooms are very well equipped and any mobility equipment required is available free of charge with the booking, the hosts simply ask that it is booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Lovely touches like home baking on arrival add to the magic of staying at Hoe Grange, and the welcome all guests receive here will be second to none.
